As doulas, we get asked a lot by our clients, “How do I start my labor” or “I’m due tomorrow and I don’t feel any labor symptoms! We totally get it!!! Besides rest, walking, sex, and nipple stimulation, the only other suggestion is to wait it out. Babies come when they are ready.....I know. It’s hard to hear! In a 2015 study of pregnant mothers: Excluding inductions, here are the percentages for each week: Percentage of babies born at 35 weeks: 1.4% Percentage of babies born at 36 weeks: 2.7% Percentage of babies born at 37 weeks: 6.4% Percentage of babies born at 38 weeks: 13.6% Percentage of babies born at 39 weeks: 25.4% Percentage of babies born at 40 weeks: 32% Percentage of babies born at 41 weeks: 16.4% Percentage of babies born at 42 weeks: 2% Percentage of babies born at 43 weeks: 0.1% So prop those feet up and rest mama! 💚
